The inaugural Iowa Corn Classic Open Auctioneer Championship contest is awarding our finalists one of the biggest payouts for a competition in the Midwest! During the 2020 Iowa State Fair, the Iowa Auctioneers Association is holding the inaugural Iowa Corn Classic Open Auctioneer Championship contest on the Anne and Bill Riley stage at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

How to Enter

This is your chance to stand out in the Midwest. The inaugural Iowa Corn Classic Open Auctioneer Championship has been developed to propel our champions into the national spotlight during the famous, widely covered Iowa State Fair. To enter, complete registration form and send with payment to the IAA office for processing. We are only accepting a maximum of 25 contestants. Entry discount ends July 15, 2020, Submit your application to joano@agribiz.org to get into the running to be named the Iowa Corn Classic Grand Champion!

General Information
• A maximum of 25 contestants are accepted
• All contestants receive one (1) complimentary promotional listing with contact information in the event program.
• Listings are published online and printed, IAA must receive information before print deadline.
• The event is held in conjunction with the 2020 Iowa State Fair and will follow those additional rules and guidelines during the event.

Preliminary Round Details
• All contestants must bring two (2) items each with a retail value of $100 to sell in the preliminary round

Finals Round Details
• The top four (4) highest scores will proceed to the finals
• One (1) wild card contestant is selected by the judges and shall advance to the final round
• The top five (5) finalist scores start new in the finals round.
• Three (3) items are provided by the contest committee for each contestant in the final round.
• In the event of a tie, the high scores in the category of determining if the “auctioneer would be hired” and added back into the contestant’s total scores.

• Contestants must be 18 years old before contest date


Iowa Corn Classic Open Rules

 

• The Iowa Corn Classic Open Auctioneer Championship is open to all auctioneers over 18 years old

• Contestants must turn 18 years old before event date

• All contestants must sign disclosures on the entry form, failure to sign disclosure section of the entry form could result in removal from the contest

• The top four (4 ) scores shall move to the final round

• The judges shall pick one (1) “wild card” to move on to the final round

• All contestants will compete together, no separate divisions are provided

• Contestants are judged according to the Iowa Corn Classic Open Auctioneer Championship scorecard criteria, can be found at iowacornclassic.com

• ALL decisions of the judges are final

• The Iowa Corn Classic Open Auctioneer Championship has a minimum of three (3) judges

• The order of contestants is established by random draw

• ALL contestants must attend the MANDATORY meeting at 8:00 AM on the Anne and Bill Riley Stage

• Contestants must be dressed and ready to compete at by 8:00 AM on the day of contest

• Any contestant not in attendance at the 8:00AM meeting forfeits their eligibility for the Iowa Corn Classic Open Auctioneer Championship and forfeits fees, no refunds, no exceptions

• Attire during Iowa Corn Classic Open Auctioneer Championship is suggested to be “professional”

• Contestants must have items checked in by 7:30 AM with clerks at the contest stage

• The finalists’ scores reset in the finals round

• The contest is recorded and live-streamed

• By signing waivers ALL contestants authorize the Iowa Auctioneers Association, without compensation, to use of any and all videos (including Internet streamed footage), photos, etc., for use by the Iowa Auctioneers Association for any reason the association deems fit or necessary for promotional purposes of the event or any other use it wishes

• Any revisions or changes announced on the day of contest will take precedent over any printed material

• The Iowa Corn Classic Committee or authorized designees will set the sound system and may adjust to benefit the contest

• The Iowa Corn Classic Committee reserves the right to except or reject any contestant’s entry into the contest for any reason the committee deems appropriate

• All contestants agree to send pictures and bio (25-word max) by July 15, 2020, 12:00 PM
- if not received, IAA reserves the right to exclude contestants from the printed & online catalog
