CLAY NAMED 2010 IOWA STATE CHAMPION AUCTIONEER

Des Moines, IA - Jeremy Clay of Maryville, Missouri was named the 2010 Iowa State Champion Auctioneer atthe Iowa Auctioneers Association (IAA) Bid Calling Contest Finals on August 17. The contest was held at the Iowa State Fair in Des Moines, Iowa.

In 1994 Clay joined the auction team of Clay Auction & Realty, the business his grandfather Loren founded in 1974. He has honed his auctioneering skills by traveling and performing five different automobile auctions each week, as well as other auctions. In 2003 he won the title of "Missouri State Champion Auctioneer" held at the Missouri State Fair in Sedalia. Clay has also finished in the top 15 in the world at the World Automobile Auctioneers Championships.

Clay will now serve for three years on the IAA Bid Calling Contest committee and will be the emcee for the 2011 contest finals.

Reserve Champion was Christopher Richard of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Also finishing in the top five spots were Tim Markham of Holy Cross, Iowa, first runner up; Jared Miller of Leon, Iowa, second runner up; and Jeff Hoyer of New London, Iowa, third runner up.

The contestants are required to participate in the preliminary contest during the IAA Annual Convention that is held in February, with the top 20 advancing to the finals at the Iowa State Fair.
